With the Ministry of Aircraft Production during W.W.II. Director of the Marine & General Mutual Life Assurance Soc., 1944. C.B.E. 1946. Chairman, Shelbourne Hotel Ltd, Dublin, 1947. Director, Power-Gas Corp. Ltd, 1952; vice-chairman 1957; managing director, 1959. Member, Monopolies Commission, 1954-57. Chairman of Short Bros. and Harland Ltd, 1961. Author of 'East Farleigh and Two Families', an account of the Wilberforce and Wrangham families in their connection with East Farleigh, Kent (privately printed; Catterick, 1974). Married 1stly July 19th 1935 (dissolved) Teresa Jane Cotton, daughter of Ralph Cotton. Married 2ndly March 3rd 1958 Jean Ursula Margaret Behrens, younger daughter of Lieutenant Colonel T.T. Behrens. Died February 10th 1982. - Avendano

He formed an important collection of Wilberforce papers, now on loan to the Bodleian. He was also known as Tuff
